Dr. Tankel received his medical degree from New York Medical College after graduating Magna Cum Laude with honors in Biology from Brandeis University. He is also a graduate of the Bronx High School of Science. After serving his medical internship and residency at North Shore University Hospital, Manhasset, NY, He went on to become chief resident in dermatology at the State University of New York Downstate Medical Center. While interning at North Shore, Dr. Tankel was appointed clinical assistant in medicine at Cornell University Medical College. He also taught at SUNY Downstate Medical Center, and is currently a clinical assistant professor of dermatology at the SUNY Health Sciences Center. Dr. Tankel's work has been published in the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology. He holds a Diplomate, National Board of Medical Examiners and the American Board of Dermatology.
Dr. Tankel is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, American Medical Association, NYS Medical Society, Nassau County Medical Society, American Academy of Dermatology, American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, American Society for Liposuction Surgery, NYS Dermatologic Society, Brooklyn Dermatologic Society, NYS Society of Cosmetic Surgery, American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery. He has also served as past president and secretary for the Brooklyn Dermatologic Society.
